Big Lake Middle School Holds Spelling Bee

On Wednesday, January 18th, 11 middle school students tested their spelling knowledge and took part in the school's  competition of the Scripps National Spelling Bee circuit.

Seventh grader Blake O’Brien was the winner of the competition. Gillian Harington (eighth grade) and Legion Maxson (sixth grade), came in second and third place, respectively.

The oral component was the second round of competition. Students qualified to take part in this second round based on their performance in a written assessment held earlier this month.

The top three participants at the school level are eligible to move on to the regional competition, which will take place at Resource Training and Solutions in Sartell on February 7th.

Great job to all who participated, and special congratulations to our top finishers!
