Independence Family and Community Fun Night

Students, families, and community members all came together on Tuesday night, May 14th for Independence Elementary’s second annual Family and Community Fun Night. The event originated last year as a way to strengthen connections between the school and the Big Lake community as well as to celebrate the end of a great year together. Activities included large inflatable games, cookie decorating, face painting, live music and many more!

Community groups represented at the event included the Big Lake Chamber of Commerce, Big Lake Police Department, Big Lake Fire Department, Big Lake Ambassadors and Coborn’s Grocery. A great meal was provided by the Big Lake Lions.

Additionally, Big Lake Schools’ PTO hosted a fundraiser in which families could purchase tickets to be entered into a drawing to win gift baskets full of donations from a variety of community sponsors. Families enjoyed the beautiful weather, food and a great time to connect as a community. The Independence staff would like to thank everyone who made this event such a success once again.
