Tonight Governor Walz will be addressing the State of Minnesota at 6 p.m. to lay out his plan for new COVID-19 restrictions including guidance that will address restaurants, fitness centers, gyms, youth sports and social gatherings. Traditionally, school districts across the State of Minnesota receive an advanced copy of the new restrictions in place, however, it does not appear that we will be receiving this information prior to Governor Walz’s address.
While I am disappointed in the decision not to provide school districts advanced information, I do understand the complexities around finalizing announcements like this. Our district administrative team will be learning about the new restrictions at the same time you do and will immediately begin working to see how this new information impacts Big Lake Schools.
I ask for your patience and understanding as we learn this new information, especially for our Activities and Community Education departments as they review how this impacts youth sports and programming. You can expect an update from us as soon as possible about how these new restrictions apply to our students and community.
A point of pride in our district is that when we receive updates from the State of Minnesota our entire administrative team takes an in-depth look at how this affects not only our district as a whole, but each individual student as well. All of us are focused on providing meaningful experiences for your children that are safe and healthy both physically and mentally.
