Dear Big Lake Community,
We need your help keeping our students in school! One of the biggest challenges we face this year is a shortage of substitute teachers, support staff, and bus drivers due to COVID-19 quarantine procedures. As an example, if a staff member was to become a close contact of someone with COVID-19, they would need to quarantine for 14 days according to the latest guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health. This 14 day quarantine greatly strains our staffing capabilities.

A substitute teacher should be able to assume all of the duties and responsibilities of the regular teacher in a given day. Short and long-term substitutes may also participate in staff meetings, teacher committees, and parent conferences. Click here to apply.
A classroom monitor will be responsible for providing supervision for students who are in classrooms where the teacher of assignment is teaching from a remote location. These individuals must ensure safety precautions are being followed; assist students as they work with their technology; and cooperate with the licensed teacher on in-person student engagement. Substitute Cafeteria Monitor
Cafeteria monitors work with students throughout lunch and recess time by monitoring classrooms and recess areas. Click here to apply.
Substitute Education Assistant
Under the direction of licensed instructional staff, this position provides a broad range of instructional support and assistance to children. Responsibilities include assisting and guiding students in the reinforcement of reading, math, science or other classroom subjects; implementing behavioral plans and/or monitoring and enforcing appropriate behavior in accordance with lesson plans and student IEP’s. Substitute Health Assistant
Under the guidance and direction of the Licensed District Nurse, the Health Assistant is responsible for providing first aid and health care to students within the building; documenting and maintaining health care records and services within the building; providing medications to students in accordance with set policies and authorization from physicians; consults with parents, staff, students and others concerning problems or health care issues. Substitute Secretary/Office Assistant
This position provides and conducts receptionist duties and responsibilities for the building, program and/or office. Duties might include: answering phone lines, screening visitors/students/public coming into the office, providing assistance with routine questions, and relaying messages to the appropriate staff member. Under the direction of the Kids Club/Hive Time Site Supervisor, this position assists in the planning and implementation of the Kids Club/Hive Time programs and its daily activities to provide meaningful, play based childcare services. Click here to apply.
