I am excited to be writing to you as the new Superintendent of Big Lake Schools. It doesn’t seem that long ago I received the phone call from your Board of Education offering me this position. Since that day, I have been eager to join your community and learn more about the exceptional learning opportunities Big Lake Schools has to offer.
I officially began working in the district today. Everyone has been friendly and welcoming. I am joining you after having spent five years as the Superintendent of Milaca Schools, nine years in the Cambridge-Isanti School system: three years as the Director of Teaching and Learning; prior to that, six years as the principal at the Isanti Middle School and the Minnesota Center (year-round school). Before Cambridge-Isanti, I was an Assistant Principal and a Middle School Principal at Melrose Area Schools for four years, and I spent a few years teaching fifth and sixth grades in the Lakeville and Robbinsdale Area school systems.
As a believer in lifelong learning, I earned my superintendent licensure from Bethel University where I am also working to get re-enrolled in their doctoral program. I completed my Masters through St. Mary’s University and Bachelor of Arts through St. John’s University.
As always, please contact me with questions and comments. It is because of our families that the Big Lake area is a special place. Your involvement and engagement is critical to the success of our students.
I look forward to being a part of the Big Lake community. Go Hornets!
