Mason Krause, senior at BLHS, attended the 75thannual Minnesota Music Educators Association All-State Band Camp on August 5-10 after being selected by audition in April. Held this year at the University of MN, the camp hosted approximately 200 students who participated in long hours of rehearsals and sectionals to develop advanced technique and musicianship. “I learned incredible skills from amazing teachers, and made some great new friends,” said Mason. “We even formed a trombone ensemble that plans to keep on performing together – check us out @thedecatets on Instagram!”
The final camp concert was the result of great dedication and commitment by some of the most talented young musicians in Minnesota. Mason is grateful to the Knights of Columbus for their generous donation and support towards this experience. He will represent Big Lake once again in February to perform the same concert at Orchestra Hall at the MMEA Midwinter Clinic.
