Big Lake High School Graduation for the Class of 2020

Senior Opportunity To Walk Across Stage:

All seniors will receive an email today to sign up for a 10-minute window from May 18 to May 22 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  Seniors are welcome to come to the high school at their scheduled time to receive their cap and gown, take pictures in front of our Hornet backdrop, and walk across the auditorium stage.  Graduates will leave their scheduled photoshoot with their cap and gown and diploma display case.  A professional photographer will be on site to take graduate photos.  Family members will also be able to take pictures of you.

Graduation Pictures Protocol:

  1. Graduates will have a 10-minute allotted time to put on your cap and gown, walk across the stage to get your pictures taken, and then to exit the building.
  2. Please DO NOT ARRIVE more than 10 minutes before your scheduled time.
  3. You may only have your immediate family members with you. 
  4. Please remain in your vehicle and a staff member will check you in.
  5. Please leave one parking space between you and other vehicles.
  6. It is recommended that everyone wear a mask while in the building; with the exception masks may be removed while taking your pictures.  
  7. Touch-less hand sanitizer will be available upon entry and at the exit. 
  8. There will not be any access to the rest of the building at all.
  9. You will need to enter through DOOR C at the back of the HS building.  Signs will help direct you, as you will be re-routed if you try to use any other door.  You then will exit from the side door of the auditorium.  Please see the map below:

Commencement Parade on May 29, 2020:

  1. Parade will start sharply at 7:30 p.m. 
  2. Each graduate will be allowed one vehicle with a total of 8 members from their household. 
  3. Tractors, floats, RV’s, boats, flatbeds, motorcycles, etc are not allowed.  
  4. Everyone must remain inside their vehicle at all times.
  5. Vehicles may be modestly decorated with the graduate’s name.  Decorations are subject to school approval.
  6. All vehicles need to adhere to state and local laws. 
  7. All vehicles will be checked in at Liberty Primary School.
  8. There can be no exchange of physical items or throwing of graduation caps.
  9. The parade route is determined by local law enforcement in partnership with school officials.  See the map below for details:

Virtual Commencement Ceremony:

  1. Ceremony will be pre-recorded.
  2. The virtual ceremony will be finalized and ready for posting and distribution on May 30th (so we may include video from our graduation parade).

Diplomas:

  1. All diplomas will be mailed out the following week after graduation.
  2. Included in the mailing will be a copy of the virtual commencement program.

Return and Distribution of Materials:

  1. May 26th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  2. No appointment is needed, this day is for seniors only.
  3. This will be a “curbside” process and students will remain in their vehicles.
  4. Seniors will return all school issued materials (including athletic or activities equipment, devices, textbooks, fine art materials, etc).
  5. Seniors will receive any personal items they had in their lockers and/or PE locker.
  6. Seniors will receive their yearbook if they ordered one.
  7. Any senior who did not participate in the walk across the stage will get their cap and gown.
