The Big Lake Schools American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC) serves in an advisory role to the district and helps to ensure that American Indian students are receiving culturally relevant and equitable educational opportunities.

Big Lake Schools' Curriculum Advisory Committee is responsible for providing input and making recommendations regarding implementation of the Minnesota Academic Standards and Big Lake Schools' overall academic curriculum.

The purpose of the District Curriculum Advisory Committee is to serve in an advisory capacity to the school district and serve as a communication link between the schools and community. Community members participate in three evening meetings per year to assist in planning and improving the instruction and curriculum affecting state and district academic standards and programs to be implemented at Big Lake Schools.

Who Should Join?

The district strives to have a diverse committee with representation from several different races, parents of students in different grade levels, and differing career field interests.

If you:

• Are interested in curriculum and instruction
• Have a strong background in education
• Have a desire to help students succeed

The Big Lake Early Childhood Advisory Council helps plan events and fundraisers to support our Birth-preK learners! The group typically meets monthly throughout the school year.

The Big Lake Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) helps to create a partnership between teachers and parents for the benefit of all Liberty & Independence students! The PTO meets every other month to discuss and organize fundraisers that help make events, programs and special purchases possible.
