Johnson and Blackman named Big Lake Triple “A” Award Winners
Big Lake High School is excited to announce their 2024 Triple “A” Award winners, Elspeth Johnson and Jonah Blackman!
The Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award, commonly known as the Triple ‘A’ Award, honors high school seniors throughout the state who have a 3.0 or higher-grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Elsie is the daughter of Geoffrey and Holli Johnson. During her high school career she has been involved in band, Poetry Out Loud, National Honor Society, EPIC, yearbook, prom committee, cross country and track and field. She was also named a captain for the track and field team for the upcoming spring 2024 season. Her future plans include attending St. Cloud State University and pursuing a degree in Special Education. Elsie also plans to participate in band, journalism, radio, and intramural sports while in college.
Jonah is the son of Brian and Wendy Blackman. He has been involved in band, Mississippi 8 Honor Band, math league, basketball, football, baseball, and lacrosse. He was a captain of the football team this past fall and was named All-District. After high school, Jonah will be
attending St. Olaf College and pursuing a degree in Biology. He will also be playing football at St. Olaf and plans on participating in band as well.
Elsie and Jonah will be recognized at the Region 8AA Triple “A” Banquet on February 25th at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd.
