Indy exceeds fundraising goal for Kids Heart Challenge

Indy students spent March participating in the Kids Heart Challenge, raising more than $13,000 to support the American Heart Association.

The goal of this annual nationwide challenge is to encourage students to have healthy and kind hearts while supporting kids who have special hearts. Students went into the challenge aiming to collect $8,000. They exceeded this schoolwide goal by over $5,000, bringing in a total of $13,604.15 for the American Heart Association!

In addition to the fundraising, students spent the month learning about and participating in activities that promote heart health and general well-being.

At the end of the challenge, the students who collected the most in each grade earned the opportunity to “pie” the teacher of their choosing during their monthly Student of the Month assemblies. This year’s lucky staff members? Principal Deavel, Mr. Sandford, and Ms. Perry!

We would like to extend a huge shoutout to all of the Independence students and families for your enthusiastic participation in the challenge. You rocked it!
