We are proud to announce that a record-setting nine Big Lake students were recently recognized for their community service efforts by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and InnerView in the sixth Annual Community Service Awards!
This program, open to all U.S. students, has been designed to connect student community service activities, skill development, and commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to transform our world.
Merit award winners completed 30 hours of community service, while Ambassador Award Winners completed 100+ hours of community service. This year’s nine recipients mark the highest count the school has ever seen.
All recipients are members of Youth Development Youth Service (YDYS), a community service group run through Big Lake Community Education. YDYS provides students with opportunities to create their own service project and connects them with local service/volunteering events.
If your business or organization is in need of student volunteers, contact Heidi Dehmer at h.dehmer@biglakeschools.org or 763-262-7183. YDYS is always looking for more chances to give back!
Congratulations to all recipients. We are so proud of these student leaders and all they do to make a positive impact on our school and community!
