Degrees and Certifications:
Teaching in the Big Lake District has been part of my life since 1986. I have had the opportunity to teach kindergarten, second grade, third grade, and the gifted & talented program.
My educational background begins not far from Big Lake. I graduated High School in Monticello, MN which was also my hometown growing up. I then continued my education with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University. After a few years of working in the Big Lake school district, I decided to return to school at St. Thomas University to attain a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction.
I believe education is a life long endeavor that I enjoy everyday. I’m thankful that I have the opportunity to share new learning experiences with my students. When I’m asked what is my favorite thing about teaching, my response is always the time I spend reading with my students. I thoroughly enjoy watching the students find their way though a new book, and watching their triumph when they make steps in vocabulary and comprehension.
I hold many treasured memories when reading with my own children as well. My two daughters went to school here in Big Lake, and I loved getting to check up on them when they were just a few classrooms away. They have since graduated and have settled into the college life. When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes our furry four-legged dog named Max.
